Play-doh

I am so thankful for the hours of entertainment the kids get from playing with play-doh. The kids played for hours yesterday and today while I cleaned up the kitchen, folded laundry and made the occasional play-doh snake. Daniel is making some strange sound with his lips and pretending he is a robot.

Megan insisted on wearing her Snow White dress-up clothes today, and since we weren't planning on going anywhere, I let her stay in them all day until bed time.

The kids are so funny. For dinner they had waffles (I'm cleaning out the freezer in the garage), milk, turkey bacon and dried prunes. They were so excited about the prunes. It was so funny to see them talking to each other while waiting for dinner to be served. Who would have thought a very excited "yes!! We're having prunes!" would be part of the dinner conversation at my house. These guys are crazy about dried fruits.

I'm not posting a week in review for Joshua this week, because we really didn't get much accomplished this week. I needed to get tons of stuff done this week, so I was out almost every day playing catch-up around town. And if you've been to Kodiak, there's not a lot of places to go. In fact, I haven't put gas in the mini-van since before Christmas.
.
It's amazing how much stuff we've accumulated since we moved to Kodiak. When we first got here, we had our bedroom set, a small kitchen table & chairs, a futon, and Joshua's crib, dresser & changing table. We unpacked the house in less than a day. Fast forward to nearly 5 years later, and I think our stuff is multiplying at night when we sleep. Our kids are outgrowing clothes and toys and baby-gear like crazy. We considered doing a garage sale, because that is a big thing in Kodiak. But I felt like my time is too precious for that right now. I really wish I would have taken this semester off of school, but it's too late for that, I'll just have to find a way to fit in everything I need to do. But back to our overloaded garage - this week I've been running between the Crisis Pregnancy Center and the Salvation Army with boxes upon boxes of things to donate. It benefits both those companies, but it also benefits us financially when we claim it on our 2008 taxes. So instead of a little cash and a lot of hassle now, we'll see the money next year, and have a clean garage now.
.
Speaking of taxes, I did ours this week. I let out a Lightning McQueen inspired, "Ker-chow!" when I was done. Both for the accomplishment of tackling the lengthy beast, and for the fact that we'll be getting a decent sized refund.

Love your post this morning! I have taken drastic measures for child entertainment (say, a few hours of TV!!!)but I love your idea of a play-dough fun time!

We too have had freezer clean out meals. They are always the funniest and most enjoyed...we should have such random meals more often. :)

Good luck in getting ready for the big move. You sound SO incredibly organized and right on schedule! I can't believe it!!

Ahh, the joys of play-doh, and the joy of the distraction it brings!

I’ll bet in two months that to do list will be drastically different.
