Visions of sugarplums danced in their heads...

How did we ever survive the newborn phases and frequent night wakings? This week Megan woke up twice in the middle of the night - which makes for a very grumpy 3 year old during the day. Monday night she fell out of bed. Before anyone panics - she's not in the top bunk of the bunkbed anymore, she's in her own room now. So how she manages to fall out of a queen sized bed is beyond me. I was worried because the bed is pretty high, and Keith and I considered taking the bed frame out from under it and just putting the boxspring and mattress on the floor. She usually sleeps over by the wall, so we decided to keep the bed the way it is. She didn't even fully wake up when she fell out, she just sighed and said in her sleepy voice, "thanks, Mom, I had an askident".

Last night she went to bed around 8:30pm (we had AWANA, and it messes up our bedtime routine). After I snuggled everyone in their beds, I went to Safeway to get milk. I came back in the house at 9:30pm and as I quietly closed the door to the garage behind me, Megan yells out, "Hi mom, your back!". So, I tuck her in again. I checked on her at around midnight before I went to bed and she was sound asleep. The next thing I knew, it was 5am and she was standing beside my bed (scared me to death!) asking me if it's breakfast time. She was so crabby today.

After playing at the gym earlier today, she took a 2 hour nap. I went in to check to make sure she really was sleeping, and I found her with her Nutcracker in bed with her. She loves her Nutcracker. I love this picture because she still has some of her baby fat in her hands and her cheeks. She's sound asleep now, hopefully I won't hear from her again until around 7:30am.

That picture of Megan sleeping is precious. It's so important to catch those very last little glimpses of babyhood - they're so very easy to miss.

Look at beautiful Megan! I love these moments. Your post reiterates to me why I love being a mommy and why I love bedtime, too. ;)
